Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Bus Driver is responsible for transporting assigned children on routes on a day-to-day basis, extracurricular, i.e., field trips, other designated places, parents, staff. Two (2) bus drivers will be assigned to each Head Start bus with one functioning as the Bus Monitor while not driving. This position is full-time and will also function as a helper to the facilities staff members during school hours when the busses are not in operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Transports children to and from the center daily in a safe manner. Transports children to field trips and other designated places. Provides first aid and emergency assistance to children as needed. Cleans windshields, lights, windows, and mirrors daily. Checks emergency door to insure proper operation. Checks horn, tires, lights, and mirrors. Keeps inside and outside of bus clean on a daily basis. Takes bus to the shop for state inspection. Monitors wheel alignment. Keeps bus locked and in a safe place when not in use. Reports all accidents to supervisor and other proper authorities. Completes daily operational data sheets and submits as required. Organizes and submits all invoices. Recruits volunteers and in-kind contributions. Works as an auxiliary facility staff member when busses are not operational. Performs similar job-related duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a 21 Passenger Head Start Bus to and from a Head Start Early Childcare Center. The role routinely operates a vehicle with several children on board and will also serve as a non-driving monitor of the children.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; lift up to 30 pounds; and reach with hands and arms.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved by the Executive Director. TRAVEL Local travel will be required for training / job requirement purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum High School Diploma 2 Years - Experience Supervising Children Preferred Class C CDL CPR/ First Aid for Adults, Infants and Child Defensive Driving Class, Safety Driving Class (With School System)
