In this role, you will be the friendly face that safely connects our community-including children, adults, seniors, staff, and volunteers-to vital programs, activities, and events.

Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competency. A commitment to serving the community and supporting programs with a customer service approach.
Key Responsibilities and Duties Passenger CareSafety:
Transport children, adults, and seniors safely to and from Catholic Charities' location or other routes as assigned, activities, and events. Ensure the well-being of all passengers while in the vehicle. Operates a two-way radio or agency cellphone to communicate with Catholic Charities and supervisor.
Specialized Assistance:
Help passengers get on and off the vehicle as needed. This includes assisting seniors and lifting walkers or wheelchairs in and out of the vehicle.
ProtocolCompliance:
Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends and strictly obey all traffic laws and transportation policies. Completes periodic mileage and other reports including passenger counts. Reports accidents and incidents on the vehicle to the supervisor immediately.
Vehicle Maintenance:
Ensures the vehicle can be operated safely before driving performing a thorough pre-and post-trip safety inspections. Maintain a clean, tidy, and mechanically sound bus at all times. Report any maintenance, repairs, or safety issues to supervisor. Responsible for servicing the vehicle with fuel and washing as needed.
Professional Development:
Attend required safety meetings and agency-provided training sessions.
Qualifications Required Experience:
At least one year of proven experience driving a school bus/van or similar large vehicle. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check. Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record to be considered ensured under company insurance. Strong Englich communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish and other languages preferred.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. CPRFirst Aid Certification required or able to obtain within 90 days of hire.
