Applicants with a regular New York State driver's license are encouraged to apply — we'll help you complete your CDL licensing process on the clock. As a Metro Bus Operator, you'll play an important role serving the community by safely transporting passengers throughout city and suburban routes while delivering excellent customer service every day. Pay Starting Rate:
$21.31/hour A new contract is currently in negotiation, so wages are expected to increase. What You'll Do Safely operate public transit buses on city and suburban routes Provide courteous and professional customer service Help keep routes running safely and on schedule Observe and report unsafe or unusual conditions Follow all traffic laws, transit regulations, and safety procedures Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections What We're Looking For At least 18 years old Valid New York State Driver's License to apply CDL Class B License or Learner Permit required prior to hire Safe driving record Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to communicate professionally with passengers and staff Neat and professional appearance Physical & Work Environment This position involves extended periods of sitting while operating a bus, along with occasional bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing stairs. Operators work primarily indoors but may occasionally be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, vehicle vibration, noise, traffic conditions, and fumes.
