Job Description

About the Role The School Transportation Supervisor is the operational leader for Rohrer Bus Service for Abington Heights School District and customers in the surrounding areas. You own driver management, route coordination, and safety compliance for your district — and you're the day-to-day point of contact between Rohrer Bus operations, district staff, and the drivers on the road. This is a leadership role built for someone who thrives in a structured, fast-moving environment and takes real pride in keeping transportation running without disruption. Beyond the regular school year, this role also includes coordinating summer camp and seasonal transportation programs, making it a year-round position with consistent hours and income. What You'll Do Driver & Route Management Manage all school bus and van drivers assigned to Abington Heights School District, including daily oversight of availability, performance, and conduct Coordinate route coverage with the Operations Department and fellow District Supervisors to ensure every route is covered, every day — no gaps Communicate route changes, trip assignments, and schedule updates to drivers promptly and clearly Receive and assign trip requests, matching drivers to trips based on availability, vehicle type, and district requirements Update driver and route data in the company system in real time, keeping records accurate and current Execute route re-routing when needed due to driver absences, road conditions, or district requests Administrative Duties Collect and submit fuel sheets and receipts to the Shop on the required schedule Complete and submit all personnel paperwork in writing and by email, including change of status forms, leave of absence forms, termination forms, and new driver start date notifications to Personnel Maintain driver clearances and licensing records in the company system — no driver operates with expired credentials Collect, review, and submit driver and supervisor payroll sheets to Payroll by required deadlines Track driver absences accurately for payroll and the attendance bonus program Complete monthly School Bus Audits and submit to Accounting Oversee and submit van audits to Accounting Count and submit days in session for school and van drivers to Accounting Update vehicle notebooks annually Complete all required forms for field trips, athletic trips, and other special transportation, routing them to the correct department Safety Oversight Collect, complete, and submit accident, incident, and red-light violation reports to the Safety Department promptly Hold drivers accountable for keeping vehicles clean, orderly, and safe — and follow up when standards aren't met Coordinate timely submission of DVIRs and log books to the appropriate Safety Supervisor Enforce district student discipline procedures and ensure all drivers understand and follow the protocol HR & Driver Relations Follow Rohrer Bus disciplinary procedures consistently and document all disciplinary issues in writing to the Operations Manager Complete required evaluations for all new drivers, assessing readiness for independent route assignment Serve as the primary day-to-day contact and resource for drivers in your district Summer Camp & Seasonal Transportation Coordinate driver assignments and scheduling for summer camp transportation programs operated through or in partnership with Rohrer Bus Manage route coverage and trip logistics during summer months, including camps, programs, and other seasonal transportation needs Communicate updated schedules and routes to drivers during non-school-year operations Ensure safety standards, vehicle compliance, and reporting requirements are maintained throughout summer operations Leadership & Coverage Step in to provide direct route coverage when a driver is unavailable and no other coverage can be arranged Attend all required meetings, trainings, and workshops Complete any additional duties requested by Rohrer Bus leadership or the school district What We're Looking For Must-Haves Valid driver's license and reliable transportation CDL Class B with Passenger Endorsement, School Bus Endorsement, and no Air Brake restriction — or the ability to obtain before your start date Ability to pass background checks and pre-employment drug screening Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook Strong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail Clear written and verbal communication — you'll be managing people and communicating with multiple departments daily Ability to stay accurate and composed in a high-interruption environment Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 lbs Bend, twist, crouch, and reach for vehicle inspections, tire pressure checks, and wheelchair tie-down application Sit for extended periods at a desk and while operating a vehicle Climb and descend bus stairs and emergency exits Work in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme weather About Rohrer Bus For over 100 years, Rohrer Bus Service has proudly provided safe, reliable student transportation while building strong partnerships within the communities we serve.
