About Palmetto Academic Learning Station Palmetto Academic Learning Station (PALS) is a caring, energizing learning community dedicated to helping children grow through structured play, movement, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. We're looking for an educator who is kind, capable, and inspired to work with young children of all ages in a DSS-licensed childcare setting. The Opportunity As a Cook / Breaker (Float Teacher) / Bus Driver at PALS, you will serve in a multi-functional role that supports the daily operations of our childcare center. Responsibilities include preparing nutritious meals, providing classroom coverage and support, and safely transporting children when needed. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well in a team environment, and is committed to creating a safe and positive experience for children. ResponsibilitiesFood Service Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks according to approved menus. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen environment. Properly store food and monitor inventory levels. Complete required food service records and documentation. Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Classroom Support Provide classroom coverage during staff breaks and absences. Supervise and engage children in developmentally appropriate activities. Assist teachers with classroom routines, transitions, meals, playground supervision, and nap times. Support positive behavior guidance and conflict resolution. Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment. Follow DSS regulations and center policies at all times. Transportation Safely transport children from schools, field trips, and center activities as assigned. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Ensure children are safely loaded, unloaded, and supervised during transportation. Maintain transportation attendance logs and required documentation. Report maintenance or safety concerns immediately. Follow all transportation safety procedures and traffic laws. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Experience working with young children preferred. Food service experience preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work with children of various ages. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain active throughout the workday. Pay:
$10.00 - $12.00 per hour
