This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for driving with your love of working with kids. As a Summer Camp CDL Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting campers to and from camp activities, ensuring a fun and secure environment on the road. Your role will be essential in fostering a positive camp atmosphere while demonstrating excellent communication and mechanical skills. If you thrive in energetic settings and enjoy making a difference, this is the perfect summer gig for you! Duties Safely operate commercial and school bus vehicles, including paratransit buses, to transport campers to various camp locations and activities Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical integrity, and cleanliness before each route Follow all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to maintain a secure environment for passengers Communicate effectively with campers, staff, and parents regarding transportation schedules and safety procedures Manage behavior on the bus using positive behavior management techniques to ensure a respectful and enjoyable experience for all children Assist with loading and unloading campers, including those with special needs or requiring childcare support Maintain accurate records of routes, passenger counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance needs Experience Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transportation (e.g., P endorsement for passenger vehicles) Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or commercial driving environments Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse camper groups Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable Mechanical knowledge of vehicle operation and basic maintenance procedures Ability to handle behavior management situations with patience and professionalism Familiarity with paratransit services or senior care transportation is an advantage Demonstrated customer service skills to create a welcoming atmosphere for campers and parents alike This role is ideal for energetic individuals who enjoy working outdoors, engaging with youth, and ensuring safe transportation.
