Job Description

TriSource is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Bus Driver to transport children to and from Head Start sponsored activities. This position works Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM-9:30 AM and 12:00 PM-3:00 PM (30 hours per week). Candidates must be available to work both shifts daily. This role plays a vital part in ensuring safe, dependable transportation for children and supporting families who face transportation barriers to full participation in the Head Start Program.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive school bus along designated routes according to assigned schedule Greet parents and children during pick-up and drop-off Assist the Bus Monitor in securing children safely in their seats Prioritize child safety during boarding, riding, and exiting the bus Accompany the Bus Monitor to safely transport children between classrooms and the bus Ensure all children are accounted for and complete required attendance documentation Support emergency evacuations and provide first aid assistance if needed Report concerns regarding child or parent interactions to the Center Manager Assist with classroom support or nutrition services when not driving or when the bus is unavailable Safety & Bus Maintenance Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections Maintain bus cleanliness and check gas, oil, and water levels daily Report maintenance or repair needs immediately Complete required reports and documentation accurately Comply with all Virginia school bus laws and Head Start performance standards Observe all traffic laws and posted speed limits Report accidents or vehicle damage immediately Qualifications High School Diploma required Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus air brake endorsement Ability to safely operate a school bus in an urban environment Experience working with children ages 3-5 preferred Strong attendance and reliability Ability to understand and follow schedules and directions Fluency in English (Spanish preferred) Commitment to organizational values: Communication, Integrity, Respect, Collaboration, and Accountability Schedule & Hours Monday through Friday 6:30 AM-9:30 AM AND 12:00 PM-3:00 PM 30 hours per week Candidates must be available to work both shifts daily
