Medical Courier - Afternoon Shift 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Medical Courier is responsible for the secure, timely, and accurate transportation of medical items, supplies, and documentation including specimens, medications and equipment between the hospital, clinics, lab, and administrative offices. This role is essential to maintaining the flow of operations and supporting high-quality patient care across the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. Minimum 5 year driving experience preferred Previous courier, delivery, or healthcare experience preferred. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and walk or stand for extended periods. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and infection control procedures is preferred.

Reports to Central Stores Manager
DIRECT REPORTS
None
POSITION-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Pick up and deliver medical specimens, lab results, medical records, mail, and supplies between the hospital, clinics, and other locations as required. Ensure proper handling and documentation of sensitive, time-critical, or biohazardous materials. Maintain chain of custody and follow HIPAA and infection control protocols. Operate hospital vehicles or walk designated routes, depending on assignment. Communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff to coordinate deliveries and resolve issues. Maintain accurate delivery logs and complete required documentation. Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs. Assist with loading and unloading items, ensuring proper storage and transport conditions.
