Job Description

NATURE OF WORK
Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a dependable, detail‑oriented Laboratory Courier to support the daily operations of the FMH Laboratory. This role is essential in ensuring timely and accurate transport of laboratory specimens, supplies, and materials between the hospital and affiliated clinics. The Laboratory Courier plays a key part in maintaining efficient laboratory workflows by following established procedures, adhering to safety standards, and ensuring the integrity of all transported items. In addition to transport duties, the Laboratory Courier provides clerical support to the laboratory team, including filing, data entry, and communication with clinical staff. This position requires professionalism, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting FMH's commitment to high‑quality patient care, safety, and service excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Transport laboratory specimens between FMH and hospital‑owned clinics while maintaining specimen integrity and required temperatures Deliver supplies and materials to clinic locations as needed Perform filing and clerical duties including maintaining standing orders, outpatient orders, and process logs Enter laboratory orders accurately into MedHost and NextGen systems Answer laboratory phone calls and assist with posting laboratory charges Provide professional customer service to patients, clinic staff, and FMH personnel Follow safety and PPE protocols including proper handling of hazardous materials Identify and report safety concerns or hazards promptly Promote teamwork and collaboration within the laboratory and across departments Maintain valid licensure and driving compliance including a clean driving record and required insurance

$17.00 per hour

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent; valid driver's license with a clean driving record; proof of insurance.
Preferred:
Experience with healthcare systems such as MedHost or NextGen.
EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
Previous experience in a healthcare, courier, or customer service role preferred; Experience handling sensitive materials or working in a clinical environment is a plus.
