FLSA Status Non-Exempt Job Role Summary The Summer Intern position assists with a variety of tasks throughout all divisions of Indianapolis EMS. This position is a temporary/seasonal position. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Retrieves and delivers hospital related items to Eskenazi related sites as directed.
  • Packages, records and delivers materials requisitioned by IEMS units and other supported agencies throughout Marion County
  • Ensures vehicles assigned to EMS Supply are ready by inspecting, cleaning and maintaining vehicle and vehicle inventory, fluids and emergency accessories
  • Retrieves, inspects, and cleans IEMS equipment from area hospitals.
  • Assists Fleet Maintenance regarding cleaning of ambulances during preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Assisting with cleaning and organizing storage units/rooms of expired and unused equipment.
  • Assists with Logistics during special events as required.
Associated Job Duties Help to maintain an inventory of the EMS equipment to ensure the immediate availability of additional stocked and fully equipped ambulances when required Assists with the care and maintenance of the reserve fleet of ambulances including inspection of vehicles being returned by crews. Cleans, stocks, and fuels as necessary and checks fluid levels and the operation of all ambulance related accessories Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • must meet and remain in compliance with IEMS driver eligibility policy. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Hearing must be correctable to age normal hearing
  • Ability to use current computer / information technology software and hardware
  • Knowledge and ability to communicate through e-mail, a two-way radio, and a cellular phone
  • Ability to use age-appropriate communication skills Resonsiblity Maintains patient and family confidentiality Maintains protected health information in accordance with HIPAA privacy guidelines and regulations Maintains confidentiality of vendor agreements and contracts Judgment Employee may work independently under the general direction of their leader Contacts
