Job Description

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the prompt and accurate retrieval and delivery of equipment and automotive parts from local vendors and outlets to various city maintenance locations.
Please note:
Hours and schedule may vary (est. to be 4-5 hrs/day and 20-25 hrs/week) and will be discussed in more depth during the selection process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Acquires and delivers automotive and equipment parts from local vendors to various maintenance locations within the city, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. Coordinates with Equipment Maintenance Mechanics and the Inventory Control Specialist to fulfill parts requests and retrieve supplies and materials, ensuring an efficient workflow. Verifies the accuracy of orders, including parts, supplies and materials, by confirming details such as manufacturer, type, and unit of measure (length, width, diameter, volume, metric, standard, thread count, etc.) Handles returns or exchanges to ensure parts are transported back to the vendor or supplier as needed. Operates City-owned vehicles responsibly, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations. Provides excellent customer service by communicating effectively with vendors and team members. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid South Dakota Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days from date of hire. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to navigate the city efficiently.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear, walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
