Job Description
General Purpose The Police House Checker is responsible for checking houses of Deer Park citizens who are on vacation and have requested the house check service. Supervision Received This civilian reports directly to a designated patrol shift sergeant. Supervision Exercised None.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Report to work on time and as scheduled. Retrieve DPPD Vacation House Check forms. Efficiently navigate and safely operate a motor vehicle to multiple locations within the city limits of Deer Park. Maintain radio contact with the Police Dispatcher(s) and/or other police personnel. Check houses of residents during their absence to insure they are secure. Immediately notify the Police Dispatcher and/or other police personnel in situations involving insecure, potentially dangerous or suspicious circumstances. Make appropriate entries on DPPD Vacation House Check Forms. Peripheral Duties Performs additional related duties as required.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules, policies, and regulations; Ability to perform work requiring good physical condition; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Special Requirements None. Desired Minimum Qualifications 1.17 years of age (or 17 prior to start of employment) 2.No disciplinary problems, school or otherwise. 3.High moral character. 4.Unquestioned integrity. 5.Unsullied reputation. a.3. Through 6. Verified by school officials and a background check. 6.Recommended by school administration. 7.Good driving record. 8.Possession of Texas Driver's License not in jeopardy of suspension. 9.No present or past illegal narcotics use. 10.Able to work a seven-day week.
Tools and Equipment Radio, motor vehicle. Physical Demands The physical demands described hare are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the Police House Checker is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The Police House Checker is occasionally required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The Police Cadet must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
