Job Description

The Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) Driver is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and reliable transportation services to patients who do not require emergency medical attention. The driver assists patients with mobility challenges, ensures their comfort and safety during transit, and maintains the transport vehicle in clean and good working condition. This role requires exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to patient dignity and confidentiality.
Patient Transport:
Safely operate a non-emergency ambulance or transport vehicle to transport patients to and from medical appointments, clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and private residences as directed by dispatch.
Patient Assistance:
Provide door-to-door assistance to patients, including help with boarding and exiting the vehicle. This may involve assisting individuals using wheelchairs, gurneys, or other mobility aids, and operating vehicle lifts or ramps when necessary.
Vehicle Maintenance & Safety:
Conduct a thorough mechanical and safety inspection of the vehicle prior to each shift (pre-trip and post-trip inspections). Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor. Ensure the vehicle interior is clean, sanitary, and well-stocked with basic first aid supplies.
Documentation:
Accurately complete all required trip sheets, mileage logs, and other documentation in a timely manner.
Communication & Customer Service:
Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, patients, their families, and medical facility staff. Provide a calming and reassuring presence for anxious or uncomfortable patients.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company driving guidelines, HIPAA, and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all occupants and the public.
Emergency Response:
In rare instances of a medical emergency during transport, perform basic first aid/CPR (if certified) and immediately notify emergency staff and dispatch.

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
