Job Overview:
Join our team as a DME Specialist and play an essential role in supporting exceptional patient care. In this position, you will work closely with providers and patients to coordinate durable medical equipment (DME) needs, assist with applications and fittings, educate patients on proper use and care of equipment, and manage orders for billing and inventory purposes. You will also collaborate with the DME Manager regarding product evaluations, provider requests, and ongoing inventory needs. This role is key to ensuring patients receive high-quality support and access to the latest advancements in medical equipment and technology.

Key Responsibilities Fit braces, orthopedic supports, and other durable medical equipment (DME) while ensuring proper sizing, application, and patient comfort. Educate patients on the use and care of braces, crutches, canes, walkers, and other mobility devices to support recovery from injury and surgery. Work closely with orthopedic providers to support patient care and coordinate DME needs. Enter physician DME orders accurately into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and DME inventory portal for billing and inventory tracking. Support daily operations of the Orthoshop by providing self-pay DME items to patients and coordinating vendor returns or manufacturer defect issues. Collaborate with the DME Manager regarding product evaluations, provider equipment requests, and inventory needs. Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering, receiving, stocking, and maintaining DME supplies and equipment. Assist with DME billing activities, including authorizations, claims processing, and denial follow-up as needed. Maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with company policies, billing requirements, and patient confidentiality standards. Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations and exceptional patient care. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum one year of experience in a healthcare, medical office, physical therapy, athletic training, or related patient care setting preferred. Experience with durable medical equipment (DME), orthopedics, physical therapy, athletic training, casting, patient education, or other related healthcare fields preferred. Familiarity with musculoskeletal anatomy, orthopedic conditions, fracture care, or rehabilitation practices preferred. Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and providing compassionate, ethical care. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and basic computer applications preferred. Ability to travel between BoulderCentre for Orthopedics locations as needed.
