POSITION SUMMARY
The incumbent in this position is responsible for driving a van to transport Columbia County citizens to and from their appointed destinations. Duties include following policies and procedures for collecting, recording and turning in transit fares, vehicle maintenance policies, cleaning the interior of their assigned vehicles, and using mobile technology to report all scheduled trips. Maintains maintenance schedules for all vehicles and assists in other areas as assigned. The incumbent in the position reports to the Transit Supervisor and Transit Department Manager. The incumbent may be required to walk, stoop, stand, crouch, run and lift weights in excess of 50 pounds. Work is performed primarily in climate-controlled environments, however, may on occasion be exposed to inclement weather. The incumbent may be exposed to machinery and its moving parts, and to contagious or infectious diseases. Graduation from a standard high school or GED equivalent required. Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations required. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of Georgia driver's license for the class of vehicle or equipment operated.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Transports Coordinated Transportation clients throughout Columbia County and neighboring counties as required. Assists passengers boarding and disembarking from the vans. Collects applicable fares and any donations received in accordance with department procedures. Maintains and turns in all revenues with receipts on a daily basis. Insures the safety and comfort of the passengers while van is mobile. Compiles and records miles driven, gas and oil usage, and number of clients transported through use of mobile technology. Maintains maintenance schedules for all vehicles. Maintains appearance of van and insures vehicle is in safe operating condition. Reports client safety concerns when necessary. Reports and documents accidents and provides appropriate level of first aid to clients as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of legal and safe driving procedures. Knowledge of medical facilities locations. Knowledge of county geography, including locations of subdivisions, streets, businesses, and medical facilities. Knowledge of mechanical operations of vans, handicapped van lifts and two-way radio. Skill in driving and map reading. Skill in using mobile technology to report required service delivery. Skill in using mobile technology to find required locations for service delivery. Skill in oral and written communication. Ability to use an electronic tablet to compile required information. Ability to maintain a schedule of time sensitive appointments in a safe manner. Ability to lift objects in excess of 50 pounds or more. Ability to work outdoors and be occasionally exposed to inclement weather.DESIRABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard high school or GED equivalent required. Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations required. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of Georgia driver's license for the class of vehicle or equipment operated.
