The driver will be required to perform a pre-trip inspection of both the truck and the trailer. The driver will be required to hook up to a trailer in the yard and back the precooled trailer into the assigned door. Once the loading process is completed, the driver will need to drive the loaded trailer to the unloading warehouse and off load the trailer, or leave it in the door, and grab an empty trailer so the driver can do another load. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned. Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks. Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Read bills of lading to determine assignment details. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
