Join the STEP Team! Services To Enhance Potential (STEP) is seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and compassionate Truck Driver/Skills Trainer to support our mission of empowering individuals through community-based services and vocational opportunities. This role combines transportation responsibilities with hands-on skills training and support for persons receiving services. Position Summary The Truck Driver/Skills Trainer is responsible for transporting donated items, supplies, and materials between donor locations, STEP Resource Centers, and customer sites. This position also provides vocational skills training and support to individuals receiving services within STEP programs and store locations. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or G.E.D. Experience Experience driving long wheel-based vehicles Manual transmission experience preferred Stock handling and loading/unloading experience Licensure Requirements Valid Michigan Chauffeur Driver License Powered Medical Examiner's Certificate (Motor Carrier Safety Regulation 49 CFR 391.41-391.49) Must meet STEP insurance carrier approval requirements Status Union Position Non-Exempt Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform daily inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance and trip records Assist with scheduling pickups and deliveries Pick up and deliver donations, supplies, and contract work Safely load and unload materials at donor sites, customer locations, and STEP facilities Ensure safe operation of all assigned vehicles and equipment Maintain positive relationships with donors, customers, vendors, and community partners Report accidents or safety concerns immediately Complete and maintain required logs, reports, payroll, and documentation in a timely manner Support individuals receiving services through vocational skills training and goal development Implement service plans and behavior support strategies as assigned Assist with personal care needs when necessary Ensure compliance with DCH, DWIHN, Medicaid, CARF, and STEP standards Maintain a personal vehicle for job-related duties Follow all STEP policies and procedures Additional Responsibilities Participate in staff meetings, committees, and agency initiatives Assist with supervision of trainees, volunteers, and student placements Promote employment, volunteer, and community engagement opportunities Represent STEP professionally within the community Perform additional duties as assigned What We're Looking For Safety-conscious and reliable Organized and detail-oriented Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Compassionate and patient when supporting individuals receiving services Able to lift, load, and unload materials throughout the workday Committed to excellent customer and community relations Apply Today!
