Technicians and gain ALARNG membership, all current federal employees, all U.S. Citizens Duties Help (1) Operes primarily straight-in-line trucks and/or truck tractors with semi-trailers which typically have an approxime gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds. Required to opere special purpose or auxiliary devices where a knowledge of such devices does not exceed the level of knowledge and skill required to opere the vehicle safely in compliced traffic situions. Couples and uncouples the truck tractor and semi-trailer, or truck and trailer, and connects and disconnects the air brakes and electrical lines. Maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles, between parked aircraft and when positioning vehicles loading docks. When driving tractor-trailer refueling trucks, they opere the vehicle's auxiliary pumping system and verify correct grade or mixture of fuel is pumped, th the receiving equipment is grounded and fuel tanks are not overfilled. Also record type and quantity of fuel delivered. Check to ensure all cargo is secured to prevent shifting or falling in transit and to minimize the possibility of vehicle sway. Select the safest, most direct and legally allowed route to be followed and identify alternive routes to be used in the event of an emergency. Driver operes vehicles on interste highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipules the dual braking system to prevent the semi-trailer or trailer from jackknifing. Assures cargo is properly loaded, distributed and secured. Performs operor maintenance on vehicles and trailers. (2) Ensures shipping and accounting documents are with the shipment and reflect actual condition, quantities and type of merial, including manual turn in and issue documents. Completes log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportion documents for accure accounting. May identify, inspect, and segrege equipment or merial as it is received for obvious damage and needed repairs. (3) Prepares and submits requests for over-dimensional permits to Defense Movement Coordinor (DMC) for military movement involving military vehicles and through the Commercial Transportion Branch for non-military vehicles. Coordines with units, maintenance activities, Central Issue Facility (CIF), Defense Reutilizion Management Office (DRMO), Property Book Office (PBO), and Single Stock Fund Activities for pick up and delivery. When approprie, ensures transported items meet demilitarizion standards (for example drainage stements, tanks are purged and weapons), and approprie certificion/verificion accompanies the items. (4) Performs warehouse work, as required, to include issuing, receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and merials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking merial; and repairing or replacing items on equipment. Operes electric, gasoline or diesel-powered forklift trucks. (5) Performs a variety of servicing and operor preventive maintenance work on assigned vehicles. (6) Accomplishes the full spectrum of support for ste and Federal Nional Guard operions, training, readiness missions, nural disasters, and Homeland Defense/Defense Support of Civil Authorities (HLD/DSCA). SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Experience or training which demonstres the ability to opere and perform operor maintenance on straight-in-line trucks which typically have an approxime gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Experience demonstring ability to opere truck tractors with semi-trailers or full trailers and motor coaches. Experience opering vehicles over a variety of roads including interste highways, narrow country roads, and on steep winding grades. Experience driving vehicles without mishap in compliced traffic situions.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE
- -Requires skills and knowledge to opere vehicles th have limited maneuverability; have more than one body and two breaking systems; or are oversized.
- -Skill and ability to opere these vehicles over a variety of roads including interste highways, narrow country roads, day and night driving, and on steep winding grades.
- -Extremely knowledgeable about turning the vehicles, in evaluing the condition and load limits, in scheduling weigh points, and in accessing traffic conditions and hazards, locally and over long-distance routes in unfamiliar geographic areas.
- -Knowledgeable, skill and ability in backing trailers in congested locions with limited space, applying the dual braking system on steep grades to preclude jackknife situion, and maneuver oversize vehicles safely under all driving conditions and environments.
- -Knowledge of warehousing plans and accepted warehousing methods, supply procedures and techniques.
