You'll partner with HR, Safety, Maintenance, and Ops to deliver coaching that motivates, retains, and uplifts. Key Responsibilities:
Driver Performance Coaching & Support:
- Identify underperforming drivers through data analysis and manager feedback.
- Develop and deliver personalized coaching plans focused on cost, safety, and service.
- Hold one-on-one sessions with drivers to address challenges and encourage improvement.
- Provide empathetic, firm, and credible support rooted in real driving experience.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between HR, Safety, Maintenance, and Operations, bringing transparency to driver performance issues.
- Participate in team huddles and planning sessions to align on coaching strategies and follow-through.
Data Review & Accountability:
- Use metrics such as MPG, idle time, CSA safety scores, and Hours of Service utilization to target drivers for improvement.
- Create reports to track trends, coaching outcomes, and impact on performance.
- Work with Driver Managers and Diem leaders to ensure accountability.
Program Development & Execution:
- Assist in the development and rollout of driver performance initiatives, campaigns, and educational programs.
- Recommend new tools, technologies, or best practices to reduce cost and increase compliance.
Metrics and Expectations:
Performance Improvement:
Measurable performance gains from coaching within 30-90 days.
Driver Retention:
Increased retention among coached drivers who improve; help transition those who do not meet standards.
Cost Reduction:
Reduce preventable maintenance events, improve MPG, lower idle time.
Safety Compliance:
Lower CSA scores and safety event frequency for coached drivers.
Collaboration:
Positive feedback from HR, Safety, Maintenance, and Ops partners on teamwork and visibility.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 5+ years of Class A CDL driving experience with a clean record.
- Experience mentoring or training drivers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred:
- Coaching background (e.g., sports, military, team leadership roles).
- Higher education or training certifications related to safety, logistics, or coaching.
- Familiarity with McLeod, Samsara, TMS/ELD data tools.
Systems:
