Clarificion from the agency This position is open to current members of the Oklahoma Army Nional Guard within the military grades of E-4 through E-6. Duties Help This position is loced in the USPFO. Its primary purpose is to transport supplies and equipment intra and inter Ste using a variety of wheeled vehicles to haul cargo and fuel, transport passengers or to tow or recover equipment. Vehicles are driven in restricted traffic environments on Government installions, and over public roads and highways, or under cross-country conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operes primarily straight-in-line trucks and/or truck tractors with semi-trailers which typically have an approxime gross vehicle weight(GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds. Required to opere special purpose or auxiliary devices where a knowledge of such devices does not exceed the level of knowledge and skill required to opere the vehicle safely in compliced traffic situions. Couples and uncouples the truck tractor and semi-trailer, or truck and trailer, and connects and disconnects the air brakes and electrical lines. Maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles, between parked aircraft and when positioning vehicles loading docks. When driving tractor-trailer refueling trucks, they opere the vehicle's auxiliary pumping system and verify correct grade or mixture of fuel is pumped, th the receiving equipment is grounded and fuel tanks are not overfilled. Also record type and quantity of fuel delivered. Check to ensure all cargo is secured to prevent shifting or falling in transit and to minimize the possibility of vehicle sway. Select the safest, most direct and legally allowed route to be followed and identify alternive routes to be used in the event of an emergency. Driver operes vehicles on interste highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipules the dual braking system to prevent the semi-trailer or trailer from jackknifing. Assures cargo is properly loaded, distributed and secured. Performs operor maintenance on vehicles and trailers. Ensures shipping and accounting documents are with the shipment and reflect actual condition, quantities and type of merial, including manual turn in and issue documents. Completes log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportion documents for accure accounting. May identify, inspect, and segrege equipment or merial as it is received for obvious damage and needed repairs. Prepares and submits requests for over-dimensional permits to Defense Movement Coordinor (DMC) for military movement involving military vehicles and through the Commercial Transportion Branch for non-military vehicles. Coordines with units, maintenance activities, Central Issue Facility (CIF), Defense Reutilizion Management Office (DRMO), Property Book Office (PBO), and Single Stock Fund Activities for pick up and delivery. When approprie, ensures transported items meet demilitarizion standards (for example drainage stements, tanks are purged and weapons), and approprie certificion/verificion accompanies the items. Performs warehouse work, as required, to include issuing, receiving and inventorying equipment, supplies and merials; loading and unloading of trucks; storing and pulling warehouse stock; packing and unpacking merial; and repairing or replacing items on equipment. Operes electric, gasoline or diesel-powered forklift trucks. Performs a variety of servicing and operor preventive maintenance work on assigned vehicles. Accomplishes the full spectrum of support for ste and Federal Nional Guard operions, training, readiness missions, nural disasters, and Homeland Defense/Defense Support of Civil Authorities (HLD/DSCA). Requirements Help Conditions of employment This is an excepted service position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the employing ste's Nional Guard, required prior to the effective de of placement. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. Currency on out-ste tractor/trailer height/weight requirements an on HAZMAT and OSHA requirements Must have operor maintenance ability for all types of equipment. Currency on all types of loading equipment (forklifts, cranes, winch systems). Must be able to drive long distances, remain overnight various locions, as necessary, and work during weekends and periods outside of the normal work day. For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license for the ste in which they live or are principally employed. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Experience or training which demonstres the ability to opere one or more motor vehicles including plform trucks, van trucks, fuel trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks which typically have an approxime gross vehicle weight of more than 11,700 kilograms (26,000 pounds) and up to 14,400 kilograms (less than 32,000 pounds). Experience opering vehicles and tractors, some of which may be equipped with special-purpose powered equipment. Experience opering plform, van, stake and dump trucks, refueling vehicles passenger buses or ambulance buses. Requires skills and knowledge to opere vehicles th have limited maneuverability; have more than one body and two breaking systems; or are oversized. Skill and ability to opere these vehicles over a variety of roads including interste highways, narrow country roads, day and night driving, and on steep winding grades. Extremely knowledgeable about turning the vehicles, in evaluing the condition and load limits, in scheduling weigh points, and in accessing traffic conditions and hazards, locally and over long-distance routes in unfamiliar geographic areas. Knowledgeable, skill and ability in backing trailers in congested locions with limited space, applying the dual braking system on steep grades to preclude jackknife situion, and maneuver oversize vehicles safely under all driving conditions and environments.
