Motor Vehicle Operator US National Park Service

Duties The major duties of the Motor Vehicle Operator position include, but are not limited to, the following: Operates one or more motor vehicles which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds. Performs minor repairs and preventative maintenance of equipment. Does manual labor tasks, such as digging, pulling, cleaning drainage ditches. lifting and emptying trash. works roads and trails in connection with raking and graveling. Requirements Conditions of employment U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.Government Charge Card:
You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1 Year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated. Moderate physical effort is needed by this position in operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavy loads or a large number of people. Required to frequently lift items weighing over 50 pounds. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires and make limited emergency repairs, such as installing an emergency fan belt or replacing an electrical fuse on open highways.Working Conditions:
Incumbent is required to work outside and is exposed to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Veterans Preference Documentation:
