Job Overview Mover / Packer (Independent Contractor - 1099 Position) Overview Southern Gentlemen Moving (SGM) is seeking experienced and reliable independent movers and packers to join our growing network of contract laborers. This is a 1099 independent contractor position, ideal for professionals who already know how to handle moving and packing jobs efficiently and safely. No training will be provided. Contractors are expected to arrive ready to perform the full scope of moving, loading, and packing duties independently. As a contractor, you will be responsible for assisting with residential and commercial moves under SGM's client contracts. You will represent our brand's values of professionalism, integrity, and southern hospitality while you control how the work is carried out, as long as the job meets agreed standards. Scope of Work / Responsibilities Load, transport, and unload household or commercial goods in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. Pack and secure items using appropriate materials and methods to prevent damage. Handle furniture, boxes, and specialty items with care, using proper lifting techniques. Provide courteous, professional interaction with customers on-site. Follow assigned routes or delivery schedules while maintaining punctuality. Maintain all necessary personal equipment, tools, and safety gear (e.g., gloves, straps, dollies). Keep workspaces, trucks, and loading areas clean and orderly. Comply with all applicable DOT and safety regulations during transport. Contractor Requirements Must have prior experience in moving, packing, or delivery operations — no training provided. Must be physically capable of heavy lifting (up to 75 lbs) and repetitive movement. Must possess a valid driver's license and be comfortable operating box trucks or similar vehicles. Ability to plan efficient routes and manage time independently. Responsible for personal liability coverage, transportation, and tax obligations related to independent contract work.
