A HELICOPTER PILOT

(MERIT, T32), GS-2181-12, 1. Pilots the Utility Helicopter (UH-60M series) and others when assigned. Routinely operes with short takeoffs and landing capability, in all types of weher, day, and night over a variety of terrains and open bodies of wer. Flights are made using landing facilities ranging from modern, improved airport with paved runways and navigional aids to unimproved strips of remote, isoled villages. This position required to make reconnaissance and observion flights. Makes test flights and checks all systems in connection with maintenance actions and takes necessary action to correct malfunctions. Participes in all-weher search and rescue operions as required utilizing a thorough knowledge of the terrain feures of the geographical area. Conducts flight checks following repairs, maintenance, or installion of approved aircraft system modificions. Responsible for transportion of cargo and transporting passengers, among a variety of familiar destinions (50%) 2. Performs maintenance operion checks (MOCs) and general test flights of aircraft to ensure airworthiness upon completion of extensive disassembly for maintenance, repair or replacement of components or aircraft systems. Performs general test flights of aircraft upon completion of extensive disassembly, reassembly, and maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts where tests cannot determine the safe and or proper functioning of aircraft components or systems; and ensures the airworthiness component or aircraft systems. Performs acceptance test flights of new aircraft when required. (40%) 3. Serves as a member of a board pertaining to aviion accidents, flight evaluion, colleral investigions, standardizion, and federal recognition. (10%) 4. Performs other duties as assigned. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is being filled under Merit Promotion procedures and is open to current employees only. Minnesota Nional Guard Membership is required. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. May be required to successfully complete a probionary period. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain and maintain the approprie security clearance of the position. Most MNNG position are covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Irregular and/or overtime (compensory) hours may be required to support operional requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Ability to establish effective professional working relionships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperive working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. Incumbent must possess and continue to maintain a US Army Class II Flight Physical.

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY

An undergradue degree from an accredited college/university is optimum. Must have Federal Aviion Administrion certificions awarded from accredited civilian aviion programs OR must have aviion certificions from accredited military aviion schools. General Experience

For Army Nional Guard positions, must have working experiences in civilian aviion programs; or, military service aviion programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army Nional Guard Aviion Support facility; or, in Air Nional Guard Wing/ Operions Group. To qualify, the applicant must have competencies in opering a specific main-frame military aircraft, mission planning, and mission preparion. Must have competence to review and analyze mission tasks, intelligence, and weher informion. Experienced in supervising and/or filing of flight plans and conducting crew briefings. Experiences include aircraft preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments. Experienced in performing or supervising work procedures involved in navigion, in-flight refueling, search and rescue operions, surveillance, and/or reconnaissance. Skilled to conduct training of crew members in simple to complex mission specific tasks. Experiences may include developing plans and policies, monitoring operions, and advising commanders. Experienced in flight theory, air navigion, meteorology, flying directives, mission tactics, and opering procedures. Experienced in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of Defense, Department of the Army, Nional Guard Bureau, and/or Occupional Safety and Health Administrion policies, regulions, and directives.
