Who We Are Leah's Pantry is a California-based nonprofit with a nationwide footprint in trauma-informed nutrition. We envision communities where everyone can cultivate a healthy relationship with food and their bodies. We build and implement community nutrition and food security programs that align with trauma-informed, resilience-focused principles. Our extensive training program works with professionals across settings and sectors to implement a variety of nutrition and food security programs and curricula. Where You Fit In Leah's Pantry is expanding our team of Health & Wellness (H&W) service providers for low-income residents by adding a part-time Food Navigator . The food navigator will be responsible for picking up food (produce and/or dry goods) from our Food Bank partners' sites, loading it, transporting it, and distributing it to low-income housing residents at two distinct apartment complexes. They may also be responsible for coordinating distribution logistics & operations, volunteer recruitment, and data entry into internal trackers and/or partners' data platforms. Other duties may also include facilitating nutrition education & basic cooking skills classes, hosting recipe/food demonstrations, and conducting outreach to community members. These apartment complexes are located in the San Jose and East Palo Alto communities. Responsibilities Pick up, load, transport, unload, and distribute food, pantry-style and/or door-to-door, at two apartment complexes. Set-up and break-down of food distributions. Ability to remain mobile and active for the duration of a shift (typically 4-6 hours), including frequently positioning oneself to lift, transport, and distribute produce containers weighing up to 50 lbs, and assisting with the setup and breakdown of event equipment. Coordinate logistics and operations for Food Distributions. Enter data into Leah's Pantry tracking system and partners' systems. Build & nurture relationships with multiple stakeholders (organizations' staff & community members). May also conduct in-person nutrition classes, recipe demonstrations, and cooking workshops using Leah's Pantry curriculum and materials. Plan for class, shop for food, and gather necessary materials. Submit Food Distributions and/or workshop data and expenses (transactions and/or mileage) reports to Leah's Pantry. Qualifications (demonstrate or articulate): US-based Driver's License for at least three years (required). Ability to commute to East Palo Alto and San Jose , and surrounding areas (required) with a personal reliable mode of transportation (time behind the wheel will be paid as well as mileage). Flexible availability Monday through Saturday. Ability to commit between 8 and 12 hours per week. Understand food security and basic needs of residents living in affordable housing communities. Experience working with low-income, multi-lingual, and ethnically diverse adults and families. Interest in the promotion of healthy lifestyles (cooking and healthy eating). Able to receive and incorporate constructive feedback. Background check required. Skillset Ability to maintain a consistently positive, empathetic, and patient attitude when working with diverse populations, specifically youth and older adults.

Special Requirements:
Located in California, specifically the South Bay/South Peninsula area. Leah's Pantry adheres to local vaccination guidelines for in-person work. As these requirements are subject to change, there may be instances when proof of vaccination, a medical exemption, or a recent negative test result is required. While vaccination is not mandatory for employment, adherence to local regulations is essential for the safety and well-being of our team members and the communities we serve. What You'll Gain Compensation:
$25 - $27/hour

Pay:
