SCAT Vehicle Operator III Position Type:
Permanent Full - Time
REQUIREMENTS
: One (1) year of experience driving a passenger bus that is at least thirty-five (35) feet in length; OR twenty-four (24) months driving a non-passenger vehicle greater than thirty-five (35) feet in length that requires a CDL license to operate. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
: Possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's license with a P endorsement and maintain said license during the term of employment. Complete a defensive driving course within thirty (30) days of hire. Possess, or obtain within thirty (45) days of employment, a valid basic first aid certification and a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and maintain both certifications during the term of employment. All applicants must fill out and sign an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. A Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) physical is required. The applicant must complete a criminal, a driver's license, and a personal background investigation conducted by Brevard County and/or another agency. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed. This position is safety-sensitive as defined by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA)Drug and Alcohol Testing regulations. $20.47 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Travels Countywide. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Performs skilled service work in the operation of a large public transportation vehicle designed to carry sixteen (16) or more passengers. Brevard County, Florida, is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
