SFSP Summer Food Driver Position Summary:
The primary function of the Summer Food Driver is to transport summer meals over designated routes to YMCA program sites participating in the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). This role is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and safe delivery of meals in compliance with SFSP regulations, as well as supporting meal distribution and site activities as needed. Duties & Responsibilities Driving & Transportation Transport meals safely and efficiently to assigned sites along designated routes Follow all local traffic laws and YMCA vehicle policies Report delays, accidents, injuries, or vehicle damage immediately to a supervisor Meal Distribution & SFSP Compliance Maintain accurate counts of meals delivered and distributed Ensure meals are handled, stored, and transported according to food safety guidelines, including maintaining proper temperatures Assist with meal distribution at sites as needed Support compliance with all SFSP regulations and procedures Food Handling & Logistics Assist with receiving, sorting, loading, and unloading meals Ensure food is delivered to the correct locations on schedule Support proper storage or handling of leftover meals as directed Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance Maintain cleanliness and organization of the food truck/vehicle at all times Perform basic vehicle checks, including refueling, monitoring oil and water levels Report maintenance issues promptly Site & Program Support Facilitate activities or engagement opportunities for participants, as assigned Support site staff during meal service and program operations Perform additional duties as assigned Requirements Must be 21 years of age or older Valid Massachusetts Driver's License with a clean driving record Ability to pass a CORI and SORI background check Availability Monday-Friday Reliable, punctual, and able to follow a structured schedule Professional, positive attitude and strong teamwork skills Ability to adapt to changing schedules and program needs Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply Physical Requirements Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Regular standing, walking, speaking, and hearing Occasional sitting, reaching, bending, kneeling, or crouching Working Conditions Fast-paced work environment with potential schedule changes Work performed indoors and outdoors with exposure to varying weather conditions Frequent travel between program sites Benefits Paid safety training YMCA membership discounts Retirement plan Onsite parking Convenient access to Malden Center T Station Monday through Friday 9:30 am - 2:30 pm Program runs June 29th through August 21st 25-27 hours per week
