Job Description
Field Coordinator Brockton, MA 02301 Hybrid work $20
- $25 an hour
- Part-time $20
- $25 an hour
- Part-time Charles River Alleycats (CRA) is a volunteer-run nonprofit serving the community cat population of Eastern Massachusetts.
What You'll Do Case Management:
Serve as the lead point person on an assigned caseload, owning each case from intake through resolution. Manage cases through their full lifecycle: trap planning, caregiver communication, clinic scheduling, short-term holding and recovery logistics, transport, return or placement, and outcome confirmation. Track and coordinate trap and supply movement (pickup, drop-off, cleaning, and readiness) so cases don't stall.Field Coverage:
Step in as trapper, transporter, or short-term holder when a case requires it or volunteer coverage falls through. Conduct or assist with basic behavioral assessments during handling and holding windows, evaluating cats for friendliness and placement potential. Be physically present for high-complexity or high-volume trap events in the Brockton area. Expect to spend approximately 50% of your time in the field supporting trapping and cat logistics. Volunteer & Logistics Managment Triage and assign volunteer roles on active cases (e.g. matching trappers, transporters, and holding/recovery support to cases based on availability and geography). Manage follow-ups and contingency planning on cases when coverage falls through. Coordinate scheduling and day-of logistics with clinics and partners (e.g. sending cat information for appointments and emailing confirmation + directions for transporters). Help build and strengthen the culture of our volunteer program. Communication & Team Coordination Maintain clear, current records in the case tracker so the team has full visibility into status, next steps, ownership, blockers, and handoffs during active cases. Escalate quickly and clearly when something is stuck (e.g. no clinic slot, no holding space, unclear permission, or a safety concern). You're not expected to solve everything solo, but you are expected to identify roadblocks and surface them efficiently. What We're Looking For Required:
Based in the Greater Boston South Shore area (e.g., Brockton, Randolph, Quincy, or surrounding towns) for practical proximity to our primary service area. Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex logistics with many moving parts: scheduling, managing people, tracking details, and closing loops under pressure. Strong, direct communicator who can build trusted relationships with volunteers and partner organizations. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; comfort with field conditions including outdoor work, irregular hours, and physical demands including lifting/carrying traps and supplies, potential animal handling (including risk of scratches or bites), and outdoor allergen exposure. Highly organized with strong written communication; able to keep case records clear and current without reminders. Comfortable using technology across devices; you'll regularly use a phone and computer to update case records, communicate with volunteers, and coordinate logistics.Preferred:
Prior experience with TNR, community cat programs, animal welfare, or similar field coordination. Veterinary technician background or equivalent hands-on animal care experience (to assist with health + behavioral assessments). Conversational Spanish. Familiarity with behavioral indicators of socialization in cats. Experience working with volunteers or coordinating across multiple partner organizations. Hours & Compensation This is a part-time hourly position targeting approximately 20-30 hours per week. Hours will vary; some weeks are coordination-heavy, others involve active field time. Your schedule will flex around trapping events, clinic days, and case needs, and will include some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.Pay range:
$20- 25/hour, commensurate with experience.
Pay:
$20.00- $25.
Benefits:
