Job Description

Job Summary This is a contract opportunity via 1099. Individual is not a W2 employee and no benefits offered. Individual must procure their own insurance (health, general liability). We are seeking a Marine Operations Lead, where you will spearhead the seamless coordination and execution of marine activities across our fleet and port operations. This dynamic role calls for a proactive, energetic professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance. You will oversee manned and unmanned vessel movements, manage operational teams, and collaborate with stakeholders to optimize maritime performance. Your expertise will drive operational excellence while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. You will work on land or captain a small boat depending on daily / mission requirements. Duties Lead and coordinate all aspects of marine operations, including vessel scheduling, port arrivals and departures, and cargo handling procedures Captain small vessels and ensure on-water public safety while assisting in the deployment of maritime technology (including unmanned systems). Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies across all operations Manage and supervise marine personnel, including crew members, port agents, and operational staff, fostering a motivated and safety-conscious team environment Oversee maintenance schedules for vessels and port facilities to maximize operational readiness and safety standards Collaborate with external partners such as port authorities, shipping companies, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth operations Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to prevent incidents or delays in marine activities Prepare detailed reports on operational performance, incidents, and compliance metrics for senior management review Qualifications U.S. Coast Guard Captain's license (OUPV/Six-Pack or greater) with towing endorsement required Proven experience in maritime or marine operations management within shipping or port environments Strong knowledge of international maritime laws, safety protocols (such as ISPS Code), and environmental regulations Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders effectively Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail in planning and executing complex operations Ability to analyze operational data to identify improvements and implement best practices Relevant certifications such as STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) or equivalent are highly desirable Strong communication skills to liaise confidently with team members, clients, regulators, and partners U.S. citizenship required Miscellaneous Weekly hours vary week to week depending on project needs. Overtime eligible at time and a half. This role involves working outdoors in variable weather conditions and may include work in confined, uneven, and otherwise challenging environments (e.g., vessels, docks, or remote sites). This role requires the ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment weighing up to 50lbs. Join us to steer our marine operations toward excellence and high safety standards!
