Position Details:
Club Operations and Function Actively design programs and clinics, coach and instruct members in all aspects of sailing- from beginners to advanced racers Plan for and execute safe and appropriate use of Club-owned sailboats through program development, clinics & racing, charter/rental usage Coach Race Committee volunteers for scheduled racing and regattas Provide on-the-water support for daily Club racing, as a mark/safety/coach boat Support Regatta Chairs and PROs in regatta planning, management and execution for regional, national and international one-design regattas Develop and support spring and fall training opportunities for junior sailors, including after-school sailing and high school sailing Daily preparation of racing and programming related equipment, including race marks and other RC equipment Record keeping of participation, boat usage Maintenance Provide oversight of proper storage and utilization of Club-owned equipment and boats Ensure Club-owned sailboats and race support equipment are available for use and consistently maintained in safe and clean condition Identify and complete routine and seasonal maintenance of Club-owned sailboats, including rigging, maintenance and repair, such as fiberglass and gelcoat repair, rig tuning and parts replacement Communication and Collaboration Develop and foster positive and effective working relationships with club staff and volunteers, especially Race and Regatta, Junior Sailing, and the Member Engagement Committee Actively promote and engage members' participation in Club programming (clinics and racing), Club-owned boat usage, and related activities Work alongside Marine & Facilities Manager on fleet maintenance and repair Meet regularly with Club Manager to plan implementation of ongoing and special projects or programs Member Satisfaction Demonstrate strong customer service skills and provide outstanding support to member participation and volunteer activities Attend to shifting priorities in Club activities, members' needs and Board of Governors' directives Perform related duties, as assigned Qualifications Required Demonstrated expertise in the sport of sailing•competency in different types of sailboats, racing proficiency, regatta attendance and RC management At least 3 years experience working in a sailing program, racing program, competitive sailing campaign, or similar environment Proficient in the operation and handling of powerboats (ranging from 13•35') , and of sailboats (dinghies and keelboats) Understanding of volunteer coordination, yacht club operations, and member services CT Safe Boating Certificate (may obtain upon hiring) US Sailing Level 1 Small Boat or Keelboat Instructor Certification (may obtain upon hiring) US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certification (may obtain upon hiring) Preferred.
- 90,000 annual salary for year-round position; $30
- 35 hourly, for 9-month position
