Full Job Description Description:
Position Summary The Waterfront Technician is responsible for supporting waterfront activities within the shipyard, ensuring vessels are safely and efficiently prepared for land bays or dry docking, maintenance, and movement within the facility. This role plays a key part in coordinating waterfront activities involving heavy equipment, vessel positioning, and critical marine evolutions while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols. This position requires strong attention to safety, technical accuracy, and comfort with hands-on work operating in physically demanding outdoor conditions. Essential Functions Prepare docking sites in land bays or dry dock, including vessel positioning, haul-outs, and blocking operations Assist with vessel mooring, line handling, and overall waterfront support operations Measure and mark vessel blocking locations to ensure proper drydock placement and alignment Operate power tools and perform general waterfront support, maintenance, repair, and assembly work while maintaining a safe and clean work environment around heavy equipment and vessels Support small boat operations and high-risk vessel evolutions with proper guidance and supervision Flexible to work non-standard hours and other duties as assigned, including the occasional overtime
Requirements:
Must be proficient with measuring and marking for vessel blocking Ability to safely operate power tools and maintenance equipment Ability to perform line handling with vessel lines for mooring and vessel support activities Ability to operate and maintain small boats, forklifts, manlifts, and a travel lift preferred Ability to work in inclement weather (cold, hot, rain, snow, etc.) Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite computer skills Must have basic organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMSNA and have high values for safety awareness Education and Experience Journeyman, Technical, or Associate's degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 2 Years of Waterfront experience preferred Certifications and/or
Licenses:
Have or are willing to obtain Forklift, Manlift, and/or Travel Lift Operation certifications
