Marina Operations Associate Location:
Key West, FL Job Overview We are seeking a dependable, customer-focused Dockhand to join our marina operations team in Key West. This position plays a critical role in ensuring vessels are prepared, maintained, and ready for customers while providing exceptional guest service. The ideal candidate has boating experience, knowledge of Key West waterways, and familiarity with rental boat operations. This is a hands-on position that combines vessel preparation, basic technical maintenance, customer service, retail sales, and marina operations. Key Responsibilities Vessel Preparation & Dock Operations Prepare vessels for daily rentals, charters, and customer departures. Conduct pre- and post-rental vessel inspections. Fuel, clean, stock, and organize boats prior to customer use. Assist with docking, launching, and securing vessels. Ensure vessels meet company safety and cleanliness standards. Maintenance & Technical Support Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on boats and marina equipment. Monitor vessel condition and report repair needs. Assist with preventative maintenance programs. Maintain cleanliness and organization of docks, marina facilities, and equipment. Customer Service Welcome customers and provide professional, friendly assistance. Conduct vessel orientations and safety briefings. Answer questions regarding boating operations, local waterways, and marina services. Assist customers during departures and returns. Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently. Rental Boat Operations Manage rental vessel check-in and check-out procedures. Verify vessel condition and inventory before and after rentals. Ensure customers understand operating procedures and safety requirements. Monitor rental schedules and coordinate vessel readiness. Administrative & Retail Duties Complete rental agreements, inspection reports, and operational paperwork accurately. Process customer transactions and assist with marina retail sales. Maintain inventory of retail merchandise and boating supplies. Support marina office operations as needed. Preferred Qualifications Previous dockhand, marina, boating, or marine industry experience. Knowledge of Key West waterways, channels, navigation markers, and local boating conditions. Experience working with rental boats or charter operations. Strong customer service and communication skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. Reliable transportation and punctual attendance. Basic marine mechanical knowledge. Experience with vessel maintenance and troubleshooting. Boating safety certifications. Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail operations. Schedule Full-time and part-time opportunities available. Weekends and holidays expected.
