Job Description

Line Handler / Dock Operations Must have twic card Position Summary The Line Handler is responsible for safely securing and releasing vessels at the shipyard, dock, or marina facility. This position assists with daily waterfront operations, supports vessel movements, and helps transport personnel and materials throughout the facility as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in marine and industrial environments. Key Responsibilities Secure and release vessels using mooring lines and docking equipment. Assist with vessel arrivals, departures, and positioning at the dock or shipyard. Inspect lines, ropes, and dock equipment to ensure safe operation. Transport employees, visitors, and materials to and from designated areas or security gates. Maintain communication with vessel crews, supervisors, and dock personnel. Follow all shipyard, maritime, and OSHA safety procedures. Assist with general dock maintenance and housekeeping duties. Monitor waterfront areas for safety hazards or unauthorized activity. Support additional shipyard operations and labor duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous marine, shipyard, dock, or industrial experience preferred. Ability to safely handle ropes, lines, and docking equipment. Valid driver's license with clean driving record preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be dependable, punctual, and safety oriented. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work. Preferred Skills Experience working around tugboats, barges, ships, or marine equipment. Familiarity with maritime safety procedures. Forklift or utility vehicle experience is a plus. TWIC card is required. Work Environment Outdoor shipyard, dock, and waterfront environment. Exposure to changing weather conditions, noise, and industrial equipment. May require overtime, weekends, holidays, or shift work depending on vessel schedules. #LP200
