Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Captain, the Deckhand serves on deck aboard a US Coast Guard inspected small passenger vessel, practicing good seamanship while performing duties as a Liberty Landing Ferry crew member in fulfilling the job tasks required for Deck Safety, Security and Customer Service.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures the safety and security of passengers. Work with a "safety-first" attitude. Interacts with the passengers to provide a pleasurable experience. Assists guests and answers questions in regard to service & schedules. Performs navigational functions as a look-out or other job duties, as assigned by the Captain. Performs safety functions assigned on the Watch Quarter and Emergency Station Bill. Practices good housekeeping onboard the vessel including cleaning windows, decks, etc. Follow company's

cleaning and sanitizing procedures Responsible for the selling and collecting of passenger tickets and cash handling Responsible for checking passengers' bags, knapsacks, etc. at the direction of the Company Security Officer, Vessel Security Officer, or other designated Company Representative. Tends to safe passenger loading and unloading. Tends mooring lines during vessel maneuvers and while alongside the dock as needed. Properly always wears Liberty Landing Ferry Uniform while in the presence of guests. Minimize impact on the environment when at work. Treat our customers with RESPECT at all times. Complies with and enforces established policies and procedures. Ensures deck and engine room preventative maintenance. Crewmembers with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
HS Diploma or equivalent Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card), and/or ability to obtain and maintain Valid First Aid/CPR Certification, and/or ability to obtain and maintain Obtain and maintain certification for alcohol service after training completion Excellent customer service skills Ability to effectively interact with the passengers, guests, and fellow employees Ability to work in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office familiarity Minimum six (6) months customer service experience preferred Previous marine experience or watch standing experience preferred One (1) year experience as Deckhand onboard vessels; passenger vessel experience preferred Valid Driver's License Copy of DD214, if Veteran status Must be at least 18 years of age Hornblower will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in a manner consistent with fair chance or other applicable laws and regulations.
