This pivotal role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in maritime management, mechanical systems, and rigging operations. As the Chief Mate, you will oversee the vessel's daily functions, ensure safety protocols are strictly followed, and coordinate the efficient processing of salmon. Your expertise will drive operational excellence, foster team collaboration, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality in a fast-paced environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated crew while contributing to sustainable fisheries management. Duties Lead and manage all onboard operations, ensuring smooth coordination between departments during salmon processing activities Oversee rigging procedures, mechanical maintenance, and troubleshooting of vessel equipment to maintain optimal performance Enforce safety protocols and conduct regular safety drills to ensure compliance with maritime regulations and company policies Supervise crew members, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to foster a motivated team environment Coordinate with shore-based management for logistical support, supply chain needs, and regulatory compliance Monitor vessel systems including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components to prevent failures and optimize efficiency Implement quality control measures throughout processing operations to meet industry standards and environmental regulations Experience Extensive maritime management experience with proven leadership in a similar vessel environment Strong mechanical knowledge related to shipboard systems, rigging techniques, and maintenance procedures Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining safety standards Familiarity with fisheries regulations, environmental policies, and sustainable harvesting practices is advantageous Prior experience working on fishing or processing vessels is preferred but not mandatory; relevant technical training is essential Join us as our Chief Mate to lead an innovative salmon processing operation at sea!
