  • $200,000 a year 4 hours ago Qualifications Ship electrical systems maintenance Welders (tool) Regulatory compliance Cutting Metal materials Sewer systems Vendor communication Refrigeration Vessel engine operation Spill response Maritime hazardous material disposal protocols Responding to chemical spills Hazardous waste disposal Vessel fire safety procedures Full Job Description Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Chief Engineer in the operating, maintaining and repairing of all vessel engineering systems and processes: Diesel propulsion and electric generating systems Deck hydraulic and pneumatic systems Fuel and lubrication systems Refrigeration plant Sewage treatment Water making/desalinization system Vacuum sanitation system Heating and ventilation systems Assist the Chief Engineer in ensuring compliance with all USCG manning, watch standing, and operating regulations Engage in the daily operations of the vessel at sea and in port Assist the Chief Engineer in establishing, monitoring and maintaining preventative maintenance programs on all main engineering systems Assist the Chief Engineer in maintaining ship fuel and discharge logs Assist the Chief Engineer in maintaining spare parts inventory and making requisitions through AMOS D system following established guidelines and procedures Strictly support all ASC policies and company philosophies Attend and participate in all company sponsored training programs as well as outside training in management or engineering related courses Maintain the vessel as Det Norske Veritas Class Society and regulatory society requirements Skill and Experience Required Coast Guard License Uninspected Fishing Industry Vessel license required: Assistant Engineer, UFIV•Oceans (HP-Limited) Must possess current US Coast Guard License to legally operate assigned vessel Must be certified to purchase and handle refrigerants Must be highly qualified to operate and troubleshoot all marine systems as indicated above Knowledgeable in oil spill response and recovery per regulations Knowledgeable in proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials Thorough understanding and compliance to Marpol regulations Competent team leader and participant in vessel's abandon ship, fire-fighting and man overboard drills Ability to weld and cut various types of metals Ability to interface in a cooperative and businesslike manner with company vendor representatives, shipyard representatives and outside contractors Documented knowledge of factory trawlers' machinery and equipment Physical Ability Must meet US Coast Guard licensing standards regarding physical condition, hearing and eyesight minimums Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug tests Must be capable of boarding and exiting a vessel without physical assistance by climbing up and down a gangplank or using a Jacob's ladder Must climb or descend one or more set of steep stairs, or vertical ladders inside and outside the vessel in all weather conditions as extreme as 30 degrees below zero Work Schedule 12 hours or more per day for the duration of the trip, including loading and unloading Ability to work at sea for extended periods of time Perform tie-up, shipyard and in-port work for required maintenance as directed by ASC management on a 12-hour per day schedule Compensation Estimated annual earnings of $150,000•$200,000 DOE Calculated based on hourly shipyard pay and crew share Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
