Job Description

SUMMARY:
Symons Fire Protection is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Delivery Driver to support our fire protection operations throughout San Diego County. The Delivery Driver is responsible for transporting fire sprinkler materials, fire alarm/low voltage, tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites, warehouses, and vendor locations while ensuring timely, accurate, and professional service. This role plays a critical part in supporting field crews and maintaining efficient project operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely operate company vehicles to deliver materials, equipment, and supplies to construction and service job sites throughout San Diego County. Load, unload, secure, and transport fire protection materials in compliance with company safety procedures. Verify delivery contents against packing slips, purchase orders, and delivery schedules. Assist warehouse personnel with inventory organization, receiving, stocking, and material handling as needed. Maintain accurate delivery records, logs, and vehicle inspection reports. Coordinate with project managers, warehouse staff, and field personnel regarding delivery schedules and priorities. Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Pick up materials from suppliers and vendors as required. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional company vehicle. Follow all federal, state, local, and company driving regulations and safety policies. Provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with clients, vendors, and employees. Other duties as assigned.

  • Steel-toe safety shoes are required for all warehouse positions
  • Education and Experience One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Welding experience or certification a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and / or abilities required. Valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple deliveries. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Previous delivery, warehouse, construction, or logistics experience. Experience operating pickup trucks, cargo vans, or flatbed trucks. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification. Familiarity with construction materials and job site environments. Experience with driving oversized vehicles is preferred but not required. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Forklift Safety Training, Basic Safety Training, OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety, CPR, and Anti-Harassment training will be provided by the company.

Communicating by phone and in person. Walking and moving about on foot. Adaptive to heat and/or cold depending on weather.
