Job Description
Position Overview The Delivery Driver / Yard Technician plays a key role in supporting ReadyDig Equipment's rental, sales, service, and parts departments. This position is responsible for safely delivering and picking up equipment, preparing machines for customers, maintaining an organized yard, and helping ensure equipment is clean, safe, and ready for use. This role requires a valid Class A CDL and a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and teamwork. The Delivery Driver / Yard Technician represents ReadyDig Equipment in the field and at customer locations, making professionalism and attention to detail essential. Key Responsibilities Equipment Delivery & Pickup Safely deliver and pick up rental, sales, and service equipment using company trucks and trailers. Load, unload, secure, and transport equipment in compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks, trailers, and transported equipment. Ensure all equipment is properly chained, strapped, and secured before transport. Communicate with customers during delivery and pickup to confirm equipment condition, location, and any special instructions. Complete required delivery paperwork, inspection forms, and condition reports accurately. Report any equipment damage, safety concerns, or customer issues to the appropriate department. Equipment Preparation & Detailing Wash, fuel, grease, and detail rental and sales equipment before delivery, return, or customer viewing. Perform basic inspections on incoming and outgoing machines and document equipment condition. Stage equipment for delivery, pickup, rental, sales demonstrations, or service needs. Check fluid levels, tire condition, attachments, lights, and visible damage when preparing equipment. Notify the Service Department of any needed repairs or safety concerns. Departmental Support Assist the Rental Department with staging, prepping, and organizing rental equipment. Support the Service Department by moving equipment in and out of the shop and reporting needed repairs. Help the Parts Department with unloading, organizing, and moving inventory when needed. Work with the Sales Department to ensure machines are clean, presentable, and ready for customer showings or demos. Assist with loading and unloading customer, vendor, and company trucks. Yard & Facility Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and safe equipment yard. Keep equipment parked in designated areas and maintain clear traffic paths. Perform snow removal, weed control, trash removal, and general groundskeeping. Assist with warehouse, shop, and yard organization projects. Operate forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and other equipment safely when moving inventory or machines. Customer Support Greet and assist customers during equipment pickup and return. Provide professional, customer-first service at all times. Help customers locate equipment, attachments, and loading areas. Communicate clearly with customers, coworkers, and managers regarding delivery schedules, equipment condition, and jobsite needs. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and OSHA requirements. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Inspect yard, tools, trucks, trailers, and equipment daily for hazards. Ensure all equipment is properly secured, stored, and parked. Follow proper loading, unloading, tie-down, and transport procedures. Immediately report accidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, or equipment damage. Qualifications Valid Class A CDL required . Clean driving record required. Ability to pass a DOT physical and maintain medical certification Must be able to safely operate company trucks, trailers, and equipment transport vehicles. Experience hauling construction, rental, agricultural, or heavy equipment preferred. Ability to safely load, unload, chain, strap, and secure equipment in compliance with DOT regulations. Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Previous experience in equipment rental, construction, agriculture, landscaping, or a related industry preferred. Ability to operate forklifts, skid steers, loaders, and other equipment safely. Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform light inspections and basic maintenance checks. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be dependable, safety-minded, and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, wind, rain, and snow. Frequent walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and equipment operation. Ability to climb on and off trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment safely. Ability to safely secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other tie-down equipment. Work Environment This position works in both yard and field environments. Daily work may include operating equipment, washing machines, loading trailers, delivering equipment to customer jobsites, assisting customers, and supporting multiple departments throughout the dealership. Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
