Job Description

Overview Join our team as a Part-time Paratransit Driver, where your energy and communication skills will keep our transportation services running smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will provide excellent customer service as you transport our clients throughout Rock Island, Moline, East Moline, Milan, Silvis, Carbon Cliff, Colona. This position is for a Driver that has some regular availability between 5:00 am and 10:00 pm Monday through Friday and 8:00 - 6:00 pm on the weekends. Expect 15-25 hours per week on an irregular schedule. Ideal person will have a clean driving record, familiarity with the quad cities, and excellent customer service skills especially working with paratransit clientele. Best candidates will have experience driving in a professional capacity.
Responsibilities Safe Operation:
Driving specialized vans or small buses while following all traffic laws and safety procedures.
Passenger Assistance:
Assisting passengers with boarding/deboarding, including maneuvering wheelchairs and operating vehicle lifts.
Vehicle Security:
Properly securing wheelchairs, scooters, and other mobility aids with tie-downs.
Pre/Post-Trip Inspections:
Checking vehicles for safety issues (brakes, lights, fuel, tires) before and after shifts.
Scheduling and Navigation:
Adhering to daily trip manifests, managing time, and planning routes to account for traffic or construction.
Communication:
Using two-way radios to communicate with dispatch regarding, delays, incidents, or accidents.
Reporting:
Completing daily logs, incident reports, and maintenance records.
Customer Service:
Maintaining a courteous and patient demeanor with passengers at all times. Physical Requirements Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs (e.g., handling occupied wheelchairs). Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and crawling to secure equipment. Sitting for extended periods while operating the vehicle.
Requirements and Qualifications License:
A valid driver's license (with a clean driving record preferred).
Background:
Passing drug, alcohol, and criminal background checks and pre-employment physical.
Skills:
Strong communication, patience, and navigational skills.
Pay:
From $16.00 per hour
