Capital Tire is a family-owned Tire Distributor that has been in business since 1919! We are looking for drivers to deliver product to tire dealers in the Indianapolis area from our warehouse. All drivers are home every night. Our trucks range from vans to large box trucks. The Driver is responsible for delivering Capital Tire products using a company owned vehicle to customers while ensuring all deliveries are completed in a safe and timely manner. The Driver is also responsible for loading and unloading products from the warehouse to truck and from the truck to the warehouse and/or customer locations. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Previous driving experience in a larger van and/or truck is required, but not required. Driving experience does not include using a personal vehicle for food and/or grocery delivery.
Responsibilities:
Assists warehouse staff with loading vehicle while ensuring product is stacked and secured properly. Drives company vehicles to ensure timely delivery of product to customers by accurately following routes and schedules while maintaining good time management. Unloads or assists in unloading product from the vehicle in a safe manner at customer locations and/or at Capital Tire warehouses if customers have returns. May be occasionally responsible for loading tires while out on route based on customer/business needs. Communicates with management daily for route details, vehicle information, customer concerns, order errors, etc. Any issues or concerns should be reported to management immediately. Reviews orders before and after delivery to ensure orders are complete, charges are correct, customer is satisfied and ensures all information is complete and accurate in the tablet including but not limited to customer's name who received delivery, picture of delivery/drop off, order details, delivery receipts, log details, etc. Receives payment for items delivered COD on tablet. Turns in cash/check payments to management at end of route. COD payments should not be held until end of shift. Adheres to all transportation laws and regulations as well as any DOT regulations. Completes daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicle is operating safely and efficiently. Communicates any issues and repairs to management for maintenance needs. Reports general condition of the company vehicle to management including normal wear and tear, fluid levels, tire pressure and cleanliness both inside and outside. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the vehicle immediately to management. Turns in paperwork and returned merchandise for customer returns at end of each route to management to be processed for credits or refunds. Assists with miscellaneous warehouse duties when/if the daily drive run is complete before the end of shift including but not limited to loading and unloading trucks, pulling orders and putting stock away. Loading vehicles with outgoing tire shipments while ensuring product is stacked and secured properly Unloading vehicles of incoming tire shipments Put tires away in proper locations to help maintain inventory records Picks tires for orders to be loaded for outgoing shipments by hand or using the order pickerQualifications:
Ability to communicate accurately and professionally with others Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting and/or handling (pushing/pulling) materials (up to 50 lbs. on average unassisted, but occasionally up to 125 lbs. with or without assistance), bending, standing, climbing or walking Able to work independently Be flexible, able to work with little supervision, be a self-starter yet able to work on a team, and take pride in completing assignments achieving a positive outcome for the customer Works as a team member with others Be of excellent moral character, trustworthy and reliable Demonstrates ability to deal with customers Possesses and maintains an active DOT medical card Maintains valid driver's license EEO Employer Many potential schedules depending on routes and customer needs.Job Type:
