GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides safe and timely transportation to individuals with disabilities between their residences and day program sites.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Ø Ensures and safeguards Agency program participants' human dignity, rights, and liberties. Ø Adheres to all applicable Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) and Agency regulations, policies and procedures as well as, state and local laws in the operation of vehicles. Ø Maintains consistent and clear communication with the Director of Transportation, Transportation Manager, and other designated staff. Ø Demonstrates basic proficiency with technology, including using text messaging, accessing company email, and completing time clock procedures. Ø Provides safe and timely pick-up and drop-off of specified program participants, following routes, schedules, and procedures authorized by the Director of Transportation. Ø Assists those program participants requiring help entering or leaving the vehicle; escorts participants requiring additional assistance to or from the vehicle. Ø Checks and responds to messages in a timely manner before beginning morning and afternoon routes. Ø Completes and submits all required paperwork including attendance sheets and vehicle checklists. Ø Attends training sessions, staff meetings and related programs, as scheduled. Ø Maintains internal and external cleanliness of vehicle. Ø Ensures that snow and ice has been removed from assigned vehicle after winter storms. Ø Serves as mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC). Ø Always maintain safe driving practices, including removal of snow and ice from assigned vehicle during adverse or inclement weather conditions such as rain, snow, or icy roads.

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ø Successful completion or drug test/driving record before hiring. Ø No use of drugs including THC (marijuana). Ø High school diploma or equivalent required. Ø Prior experience providing transportation services for individuals with disabilities preferred. Ø Must be able to respond appropriately to auditory stimulus without visual cues. Ø Ability to follow directions and read maps. Ø Must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form with coworkers and supported individuals and read fluently. Ø Valid driver's license in the state of Massachusetts required. Ø Documented physical indicating fitness for job. Ø Successful completion of all state and Agency mandated training that is required upon hire.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Ø No supervisory responsibility.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ø Ability to assist adults with disabilities in and out of the vehicle. Ø Ability to physically intervene in instances of extreme behavior that might jeopardize the safety of individuals supported and staff. Ø Ability to perform wheelchair securing protocols should you be wheelchair certified. Ø Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly in varying traffic and weather conditions, including inclement weather (rain, snow, ice, and low visibility).
