G Job Duties Job Description:
Norfolk State University's Department of Facilities Management Transportation Division seeks applicants for the position of Shuttle Driver. Incumbent will report directly to the Transportation Manager, and can expect the following duties and responsibilities: 1. Ability to drive and comfortably operate passenger vans, 25 passenger shuttle buses any and all support and transit vehicles. 2. Available Working Shifts
  • Morning Schedule :
    Monday thru Friday
  • 7:00 am
  • 4:00 pm and Saturday & Sunday
  • 10:00 am
  • 8:00 pm
Evening Schedule:
Monday thru Friday
  • 4:00 pm
  • 9:00 pm and Saturday & Sunday
  • 10:00 am
  • 8:00 pm (Flexible Schedule).
3. Ability to operate a transit vehicle. 4. Knowledge of highway regulations; effective verbal and listening communications skills; time and stress management skills. 5. Ability to read and write in the English language to record and maintain daily route records. 6. Ability to understand, follow, and execute verbal instructions through two-way radio communications. 7. Ability to provide friendly customer service and conduct positive, courteous and respectful interaction with the public. 8. Practices safety at all times in performance of required duties 9. Provide detailed reports of accidents or incidents. 10. Ability to understand, follow, and execute verbal instructions through two-way radio communications. Minimum Qualifications 1. Must be 21 years of age and have an acceptable motor vehicle driving record. 2. 3 years' experience as a fixed-route transit bus driver or over-the-road charter bus driver is preferred. 3. High school diploma or equivalent. 4. Must possess a valid Virginia Driver's License 5. Must maintain an acceptable driving record level throughout employment as monitored by periodic reviews of driving record. 6. Must be able to work varying shifts, hours and days, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays. Additional Considerations 1. Considerable customer service experience. 2. Or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. 3. Individual may be required to attend school/workshops on a yearly basis to maintain skill level necessary to carry out position responsibilities.
