Part-Time Senior Nutrition Cook & Driver Skagit Council on Aging - Burlington, WA Part-Time | Approximately 30 Hours per Week $21.62 per hour starting wage Job Overview Join the Meals on Wheels team serving older adults throughout Skagit County. The Part-Time Senior Nutrition Cook & Driver supports the preparation, packaging, and delivery of nutritious meals for senior dining programs and Meals on Wheels clients. This role combines commercial kitchen work, meal distribution, and transportation support in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This position is based out of the Central Kitchen located at the Burlington Senior Center and includes regular travel to satellite nutrition sites throughout Skagit County. Schedule Approximately 30 hours per week Schedule varies depending on operational needs Typical shift start time is 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM Monday through Friday schedule preferred Occasional schedule flexibility may be required Pay Starting wage: $21.62 per hour Essential Duties and Responsibilities Food Preparation & Meal Service Prepare bulk food items according to daily menus and standardized recipes Assist with preparation of entrees, vegetables, starches, soups, and desserts Package hot and cold meals for Meals on Wheels and senior nutrition sites Maintain proper portion sizes and food temperatures Record food temperatures and complete required food safety logs Assist with congregate meal service as needed Kitchen Operations & Sanitation Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in kitchen and dining areas Wash dishes and sanitize equipment, counters, tables, and refrigerators Sweep, mop, and assist with overall kitchen cleanup Properly store food and supplies Follow all health department and food safety regulations Transportation & Delivery Transport meals, food containers, and supplies to satellite nutrition sites throughout Skagit County Maintain proper food temperatures during transport Load and unload food carriers and delivery equipment Clean and maintain transportation vehicles and food carriers Pick up food items and supplies from vendors as needed Administrative & Team Support Maintain meal counts and basic program records Assist with donation tracking and reporting Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and senior clients Support kitchen and nutrition program operations as needed QualificationsPreferred Experience One year of food service, institutional cooking, or bulk meal preparation experience preferred Experience in senior services, school kitchens, healthcare food service, or nonprofit meal programs is helpful Required Skills & Abilities Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices Ability to prepare meals using standardized recipes Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely Reliable attendance and punctuality required Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Frequent lifting, bending, reaching, and cleaning Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to safely drive program vehicles throughout Skagit County Education & Certifications High school diploma or GED preferred Valid Washington State driver's license required Valid Food Handler's Permit required Benefits Paid sick leave in accordance with Washington State law Mission-driven work serving local seniors Supportive team environment Work Location In person - Burlington, WA Equal Opportunity Employer Skagit Council on Aging is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or veteran status.
