This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire. The reporting location for this position is Rancho San Luis Maintenance Office in Santa Nella, CA. Under the general direction of Park Maintenance Chief I. The State Park Equipment Operator (SPEO) is responsible for the operation and routine maintenance of assigned heavy equipment. During routine activities the SPEO may act as crew leader for seasonal and less skilled staff. Other occasional duties for this position include attending and leading staff meetings, assisting in emergency activities (rescue, first aid, etc.), purchasing and recordkeeping, reports and training of staff on equipment use, preparing and leading safety or accident prevention meetings, training/orienting new or less skilled staff and responding to questions from park visitors. Working locations in the sector include: Pacheco State Park, San Luis Reservoir SRA, Great Valley Grasslands SP, George Hatfield SRA, McConnell SRA, Caswell Memorial SP, and the new proposed Dos Rios Ranch park unit, but may be required to work in all units within Central Valley District, as directed. Training and Development Assignments may be considered. Possession of a valid Class A driver's license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. This position will be subject to the Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. The incumbent's work schedule will be Monday to Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to appointment. Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in
CCR 599.962.
