Job Description
Job Overview Makan Yacht Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Part-Time Yacht Captain to join our growing team in the Los Angeles area. If you are passionate about boating, safety, professionalism, and providing exceptional client experiences, we would love to hear from you. This is a flexible part-time position averaging approximately 10-20 hours per week. The ideal candidate is experienced, dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable operating a wide range of vessels independently. Duties Command the vessel safely during all navigation and operational activities, adhering to Safely operate vessels ranging from 25 to 87 feet Maintain confident and competent vessel handling in varying conditions Coordinate vessel operations according to scheduling and client needs Conduct pre-departure safety inspections and ensure vessels remain safe throughout operation Communicate and collaborate effectively with technicians, crew members, and management Identify and report any safety, mechanical, or structural concerns promptly Maintain professionalism and provide excellent client interaction at all times Skills Current and valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License required Previous maritime industry experience required Strong boating and navigation experience required Sailing experience is highly preferred Familiarity with Los Angeles area marinas and waterways Must reside within commuting distance of the LA area marinas Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and responsibly Compensation $35-$75 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Benefits Flexible part-time scheduling Overtime opportunities Performance and bonus opportunities Career growth and educational opportunities within the maritime industry
