As the Staff Captain's deputy, the Chief Officer ensures that the internal and external ship maintenance is kept to the highest standard.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be the shipboard contact person for refurbishments in public and crew areas as well as for apartment refurbishments. Follow up that all related AMOS work orders are completed in due time within the 60-day window, ensure maintenance of the equipment is carried out as per National, Foreign as well as equipment manufacturer's recommendations. Be familiar with Hotel operation policies and procedures. Shipboard contact person for insurance claims inside apartments. Monitor the stability of the ship in port and at sea. Prior any sea voyage print out stability report and have the document signed by the Captain. Monitor working hours for Deck Crew; monthly overtime to be sent to the Staff Captain for approval. Administrator of the electronic NAPA Deck Logbook. In charge of the AVO system for the Deck Department. Responsible for the inspection, maintenance and testing of firefighting equipment and lifesaving equipment. Ensure inspection and maintenance of FFA and LSA is carried out as per AMOS. Ensure Emergency duty training to Crew, Residents & Guests is conducted in compliance with all international rules and regulations stated by the Flag state, SOLAS, STCW etc. In charge of Marina and Zodiac Operations, responsible to keep zodiac fleet well maintained. Ensure that all Deck crew are getting familiarized according to designated form
SMP 411-04.
Well acquainted with the operation of Rescue boats, including but not limited to launching, recovering, maneuvering as well as full understanding of SAR operations. Be familiar with the Safety Management System and the Premaster software as well as have a full understanding of the Safety Organization and Ship Security Plan. Execute any other duties as required by the Master / Staff Captain.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Conform with all International and National conventions / regulations. Unlimited Masters' license and extensive experience on passenger vessels. Ship Security Officer Certificate of Proficiency. Fluent in spoken and written English.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to work 7 days a week for a minimum period for extended period of time. While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Assist with zodiac landings, Marina days and Expeditions when required. Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors. Able to pass basic safety course.
