Tow Boat Captain

  • Part-time, Full-time, Contract Flagship Towing is seeking a full/part-time USCG-licensed captain to provide marine assistance to boaters in the Tampa Bay, Florida area.
Candidates must be established in the local area and be able to commute to St. Petersburg and Clearwater within 30min-1hour. The candidate must possess superior boat handling skills and a willingness to learn the policies and operational procedures required of all Flagship Towing captains. This position involves towing disabled vessels, fuel delivery, battery jumps, ungrounding, on-water assistance, and salvage services. There is flexibility in scheduling with other Captains. Traveling work is available.
Preferred candidates:
are energetic and eager to scout jobs, sell memberships, and make connections on the water; able to learn or already possess skills and experience relating to marine salvage and recovery operations and techniques, such as, air bags, water pumps, general rigging, use of tools; seamanship and small boat handling; experience with vessel maintenance and minor repairs; take's pride in ones work and go the extra mile with integrity and discipline; customer service and self awareness. Captains who seek this position must possess the following: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to enrollment in a random drug testing program. Valid USCG license with an Assistance Towing endorsement. Excellent twin-engine boat handling skills. Ability to use electronic technology to efficiently provide service. Able to commit to working day shifts, with occasional nights/evenings as required, weekends are a must, and summer holiday hours are required. Be comfortable with exposure to potentially harsh weather and rough seas. Please send a resume detailing your boating experience and/or other maritime related employment, experience, and knowledge.
