Boat Captain for 100 Ton boat

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and experienced Boat Captain with a 100ton license to oversee the safe operation of our vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maritime navigation and management, with the ability to lead a crew effectively while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role requires mechanical knowledge and the capability to rig equipment as needed, making it essential for candidates to possess both leadership qualities and technical expertise. Pier 36 is one of our operational piers in NYC. Responsibilities Navigate and operate vessels safely in various weather conditions, ensuring passenger safety at all times. Manage crew members, assigning tasks and providing training as necessary to maintain high operational standards. Conduct regular inspections of the boat's mechanical systems, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues as they arise. Rig equipment for various activities, ensuring all gear is secure and functioning properly before use. Maintain logs of vessel operations, including navigation records, maintenance performed, and any incidents that occur during trips. Ensure compliance with all maritime laws and regulations, including safety protocols and environmental guidelines. Communicate effectively with passengers, providing information about the journey and addressing any concerns they may have. Skills Excellent navigational skills with a thorough understanding of maritime rules and regulations. Mechanical knowledge related to boat operations, including engines and other critical systems. Proficient in rigging techniques for various water activities, ensuring safety and efficiency. Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions in emergency situations. Strong communication skills for interacting with crew members and passengers alike.
