Position:
M/H Truck Diesel Technology Instructor South Arkansas College is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, faculty position as a Medium/Heavy Truck Diesel Technology instructor for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division. Reporting to the Dean of Career and Technical Education, this individual will work in the Medium/Heavy Truck Diesel Technology program of study. The individual will teach college credit courses including, but not limited to, Electrical Systems, Preventive Maintenance, Brake Systems, Drive Train Technology, Engine Repair, and HVAC. The individual will be responsible for instruction and curriculum development. In addition, the position will lead out in CTE Division recruiting, the college's student organization SkillsUSA, and in the development of divisional work-based learning/internship program opportunities. The position requires the individual to possess strong interpersonal skills, good communication and computer skills, a student-centered philosophy, and excellent organizational skills. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy.
Salary:
Annual salary to commensurate with education and experience. Plus, excellent benefit package.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
NA Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and revise curriculum, syllabi, course materials, assessments, etc., as needed
  • Deliver program curriculum to secondary and postsecondary students
  • Along with the Dean and faculty of the CTE Division, lead divisional recruiting efforts
  • Work with faculty and students as the lead SkillsUSA advisor
  • CTE work-based learning/internship program development (template for all CTE programs)
  • Maintain up-to-date student records
  • Collaborate with industry partners through program advisory committee
  • Attend program-related professional development as needed
  • Assist with student recruitment
  • Participate in divisional activities
  • Collaborate with other areas/colleagues of the college, including serving on the College Shared Governance committee(s) to promote the functions of the college
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities:
  • Possess knowledge and skill necessary to present program curriculum
  • Be able to operate the program's diesel equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to use professional technology to conduct college-related business (ex. Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to teach in both in-person and online modalities using the College LMS (Blackboard Ultra)
Required Education and Experience:
Applicant must hold an Associate's degree in Diesel Technology, or be willing to pursue an Associate's degree; with a minimum of 3 years' recent work experience as a M/H Truck diesel service technician.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Applicant must hold an Associate's degree in Diesel Technology, or be willing to pursue an Associate's degree; with a minimum of 5 years' recent work experience as a M/H Truck diesel service technician, ASE certification in the areas to be taught, and teaching experience.
Physical Requirements:
The individual must be able to stand for long periods of time. The individual must be able to operate all program equipment. The individual must be able to lift 50 pounds.
