Job Title:
OTR Truck Driver - Reefer | 1099Independent Contractor Company:
R & E Transport Location:
Yuma, AZ (Nationwide Routes)Job Type:
Contract (1099)USDOT:
2270056 About R & E Transport R & E Transport is a small, growing carrier based in Yuma, Arizona — and we intend to stay small on purpose. We are not building a mega-fleet. We are building a reputation. Every driver we bring on is hand-selected, thoroughly vetted, and expected to operate at a professional standard that reflects where this company is headed. We run refrigerated freight. That means the cargo matters, the equipment matters, and the driver behind the wheel matters more than anything else. If you are looking for a company that will treat you like a number, keep scrolling. If you want to be part of something being built the right way — from the ground up — read on. This is not an easy opportunity to qualify for. We make no apologies for that. Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced OTR Class A CDL driver specializing in refrigerated (reefer) freight to operate as a 1099 independent contractor on long-haul, nationwide routes. You will be responsible for the safe, timely, and compliant transportation of temperature-sensitive goods — and you will be expected to handle that responsibility without hand-holding. Duties & Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailers with refrigerated trailers across long-haul routes in full compliance with all federal, state, and local traffic laws and FMCSA regulations Monitor and maintain temperature controls throughout transit, inspecting reefer units at every stop to ensure product integrity is never compromised Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections covering brakes, lights, tires, refrigeration units, and all safety systems — no shortcuts Load and unload freight efficiently and safely using appropriate equipment including forklifts or pallet jacks where required Properly secure all loads in accordance with federal cargo securement standards Plan and adjust routes proactively to optimize delivery times and fuel efficiency while accounting for road conditions, weight restrictions, and HOS compliance Maintain complete and accurate logs of hours of service, mileage, fuel, temperature records, and delivery documentation — every trip, every time Communicate proactively and professionally with dispatch regarding delivery status, route changes, delays, or any on-road issues Represent R & E Transport with professionalism at every shipper, receiver, and weigh station interaction Minimum Requirements — Read These Carefully We are specific about who we hire. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with dispatch, customers, and regulatory personnel What We Expect From You You know the rules — and you follow them. Not because someone is watching, but because you respect the profession. You run legal, you inspect your equipment, you deliver on time, and you represent this company the way it deserves to be represented. You do not cut corners on logs. You do not push past your hours. You do not gamble with a load because you want to make the next stop faster. You understand that the refrigerated freight in your trailer has a customer depending on it — and you take that seriously. You communicate. You plan. You handle problems before they become emergencies. You treat every shipper and receiver professionally regardless of how your day is going. If that sounds like the standard you already hold yourself to — you will thrive here. What We Will Not Work With We have zero tolerance for: Falsified logs or fraudulent documentation of any kind Disregard for HOS regulations or FMCSA compliance standards Reckless driving, unsafe operation, or poor safety culture Dishonesty during the application or onboarding process Drivers who cannot work within a structure and expect to operate without accountability We run a professional operation. That standard is non-negotiable. A Word to All Applicants We know no driver's career is perfect, and we are not looking for perfection. We are looking for honesty, growth, and professionalism. If there is something in your history — be upfront about it. We review every applicant individually, and we have given opportunities to drivers that other carriers passed on. Character and transparency go a long way with us. What disqualifies you is not your past. What disqualifies you is trying to hide it. R & E Transport is becoming something. We want the drivers we bring on now to be part of what we build — not just filling a seat. If you are a professional who takes pride in your work and wants to be valued for it, this is the right call to make.Pay:
