- 5:00 PM Job Summary The Driver / Shop Assistant position includes general shop cleanup, assisting with opening and closing responsibilities of the dealership, pick-ups and deliveries, cleaning of vehicles, and assisting others as assigned.
Most importantly, a Shop Assistant contributes to the positive reputation of the dealership in all dealings with customers. Key Result Areas for Driver 1. Safety and legality of driving habits. 2. Professionalism and judgment in customer service situations. 3. Efficiency and timeliness of completed assignments. 4. Positive "word-of-mouth" reputation of pick-up and delivery service (the extent to which customers comment favorably on our services). 5. Maintenance and cleanliness of company vehicle(s). Key Result Areas for Shop Assistant 1. Customer Satisfaction Index (C.S.I.) scores and internal SVHD customer follow up responses regarding cleanliness of vehicle. 2. Customer's impressions of cleanliness and orderliness of the Service Department (including C.S.I. scores on cleanliness of dealership, showroom, service department, customer lounge, and public areas). 3. Flow of receipt and breakdown of new vehicle crates and pallets. 4. Quality of B-Preps Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Necessary to Perform the Job Working as a shop assistant requires physical exertion, including rolling vehicles in and out of the shop; applying torque to remove or replace bolts, etc.; lifting, jacking, and hoisting of motorcycle parts and components; and the ability to stoop, crouch, and bend for extended periods while detailing motorcycles. A shop assistant must have (and maintain) a clean, up-to-date California driver's license with a beginning, and ongoing driving history that is acceptable to both the dealership and the dealership's insurance company. A shop assistant must be comfortable and competent operating company vehicles and/or towing a trailer with the use of side mirrors only. A shop assistant must have excellent common sense, judgment, and respect for customers at their places of work or homes. A person with a strong sense of self-discipline (sticking to schedules and not pursuing personal business while on the road, or on the clock) will maintain employment, and progress in this position. Principle Activities Include 1. Execute scheduled motorcycle pick-ups and deliveries at direction of Service Office. 2. Collects all relevant information when picking up a motorcycle (name, contact information, vehicle information) to allow service writer to completely and accurately write a repair order when arriving back at the dealership. Contacting customer with estimate as directed by Service Manager. 3. Pick-up or deliver supplies, parts, customers, or other items as directed by Service Office. 4. Maintain adequate fuel levels through company account gas station; keeping all receipts and paperwork from purchases for return to accounting office. 5. Check shop truck(s) fluid levels (oil, transmission fluid, coolant, etc.) weekly, and as needed. 6. Wash company vehicle(s) as needed to maintain a professional appearance. 7. Maintain a mileage log for the company vehicle, noting all fuel purchases, oil changes and all other maintenance activities. 8. Cleaning / detailing, and the covering of any 'ready' motorcycles in the Service Department prior to delivery to customers. 9. Uncrate new motorcycles. 10. Push motorcycles and other service vehicles in and out of the Service Department. 11. Check and replenish shop supplies. 12. Maintain bulk lubricant area; clean drum tops, clean outside of barrels, rotate drums to face labels out, and keep floor oil free. 13. Complete "B-Preps" (preparation of motorcycles for Sales Department formal delivery) per company procedures, and with "zero defects". 14. Clean and organize Service Department continuously, and as needed, per attached standards, including emptying department trash bins as needed. 15. Neatly store used tires and batteries. Work with / around other hazardous chemicals with use of prescribed safety equipment (goggles, lifting belts, etc.) at all times. Advise Service Office when pickup of hazardous materials is needed. 16. Maintain Demo fleet cleanliness, and readiness (fuel level, oil level, tire pressure, etc.) and visual check of safety components (lights, horn, reflectors, etc.) on a weekly basis (talk to TCP sales manager) and fill out appropriate log upon completion.
